Belgium's all-time top goalscorer could be set for another eventful transfer window at the end of the campaign as his future remains up in the air.
The 30-year-old looked poised for a permanent departure away from Stamford Bridge during the off-season, but no team in Europe was willing to pay the €38 million (R774 million) price tag the Blues had placed on the Antwerp native.
Lukaku ended up being reunited with Jose Mourinho at AS Roma on a season-long loan deal, and he has had a good start to the season in the Eternal City, scoring 10 goals in 16 appearances to date, and it now seems his form has reignited interest in his signature.
Roma are believed to be keen on keeping the attacker on a permanent basis, but still view his price as too high, an amount the west Londoners a believed to be reluctant to deviate from.
According to Voetbalkrant, however, Newcastle United have also admired the striker's resurgence and are considering signing him in order to provide competition for Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak.

The same report also suggests, however, that Lukaku is reluctant to return to England, having previously played for West Bromwich Albion, Everton, Manchester United and the Blues, and that the 2020/21 Serie A winner is hoping a strong 2024 UEFA European Championship campaign with Belgium at the end of the season will garner bigger interest in his services.
