Sergio Aguero's father has hit out at Pep Guardiola after his son completed a move to Barcelona this week, saying the Manchester City boss was "never sincere" about the striker.
Shock Details Of Messi's New Contract Revealed?
Aguero officially put pen to paper on a deal with the Catalan giants on Monday, becoming the first player signed by returning president Joan Laporta in his new reign at the club.
While the 33-year-old struggled with fitness and health issues this past season, he was often overlooked by Guardiola, and featured only as a substitute in their 2020/21 UEFA Champions League final loss to Chelsea.
During City's Premier League trophy celebrations a week earlier, Guardiola gave an emotional interview in which he teared up while speaking about Aguero, and said the Argentine would be impossible to replace at the Etihad.
Aguero's father Leonel del Castillo, however, did not hold back when he was asked if he was touched by the City manager's words about his son.
"No, I don't believe him," he said, according to Barca Blaugranes.
"He was never sincere with my son. He never wanted him, in my opinion. He wants to be the protagonist in his clubs rather than the player.
"From one day to the next he changes the players, he changes the midfield, you never know if you're the main choice player or not.
"My son was waiting right up to the last moment to renew with City but it didn't happen."
