Raphael Varane's Manchester United Salary Revealed

Raphael Varane's Manchester United Salary Revealed

At Manchester United, Raphael Varane will reportedly earn almost double what he was earning at Real Madrid. How, though, will his new weekly wages compare to his new teammates' in England?

On Tuesday evening, the Red Devils announced on their official website that they had reached an agreement with Los Blancos over the acquisition of the 28-year-old centre-back.

Early reports suggest that the 20-time English champions will pay about £34 million (R885 million) up front for Varane's signature, while Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo has reported he will earn a weekly wage of £197 000 (R4 million) a week.

It is claimed that the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner will, therefore, be paid almost double what he was earning with the 13-time UEFA Champions League winners, but how does this weekly salary compare to those of United's current best-paid players?

A recent ranking published by The Sun would suggest that Varane now becomes the club's seventh-highest earner, knocking his new defensive partner and captain Harry Maguire down to eighth spot.

It appears the former Lens youth player will earn slightly less than England winger Marcus Rashford, with the likes of Edinson Cavani and Anthony Martial also above him in the list, as well as new signing Jadon Sancho.

Varane has signed a four-year contract with the Red Devils on this reported wage, which means his deal is worth about £40.9 million (R100 million) altogether.
