Liverpool winger, Raheem Sterling, was named as the best young player in Europe for 2014.
The 20-year-old rose to prominence in the second half of Liverpool's 2013-2014 campaign, as they narrowly missed out on the club's first English Premier League title.
Sterling became the second Englishman, after Wayne Rooney in 2004, and the first Reds player to win this prestigious award, while teammate Mario Balotelli won it four years ago.
The 20-year-old believes this award was down to the hard-work.
"It's a great achievement to win such an award," Sterling told Liverpoolfc.com.
"It's a really happy feeling for me and my family, of course.
"Something I've always wanted to do is to work hard playing football and try to be recognised. I'm really grateful that people have shown me this recognition.
