Venue: Etihad Stadium
Kevin de Bruyne and Ederson returned to the Cityzens line-up, while top scorer Erling Haaland was back on the bench after recovering from an injury lay-off.
City had all the possession as expected in the early parts of the first half, but it was Wolves who looked livelier on the counter-attack, with Marshall Munetsi and Matheus Cunha passing up some golden opportunities.
The visitors nearly silenced the Etihad on 23 minutes when full-back Rayan Aït-Nouri latched onto a loose ball in the box and unleashed a powerful strike that rattled the upright before he was denied by Ederson on the rebound as well.
City took the lead ten minutes before the break as Jeremy Doku raced to the byline before pulling the ball back for Kevin de Bruyne, who fired home a first-time strike.
The woodwork came to City's rescue once again ten minutes into the second half when Aït-Nouri carved out a little space on the left side on the box before seeing his powerful strike crash against the upright with Ederson well-beaten.
Wolves made a double change soon after as Pablo Sarabia replaced Matt Doherty on the wing, while Jean-Ricner Bellegarde made way for Rodrigo Gomes in the midfield for the final 20 minutes of the second half.
The visitors did make a couple forays into the City box in the latter stages of the second half, but the defence were able to thwart every attempt and hold out for the maximum points.
The win takes Guardiola's men above Newcastle United and into third spot, while Wolves remain in 13th position.
