Erling Haaland set a new record after scoring twice to help Manchester City defeat Everton 2-0 on Saturday afternoon.

Result: Manchester City 2-0 Everton
Date: 10 February 2024
Venue: Etihad Stadium
Pep Guardiola made four changes from the win over Brentford, as Mathues Nunes, John Stones, Manuel Akanji and Jeremy Doku came in for Kevin de Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, Kyle Walker and Josko Gvardiol.
The home side dominated possession from the onset and were camped in the opposition half for most of the stanza, but they found it tough to break down a stubborn Everton defence.
That was the trend for the remainder of the first half, with City's only source of the attack coming from Doku down the left wing but his crosses could not find a City teammate.
City came out with the same intent in the second period, but still found it tough to carve out chances, which prompted Guardiola to throw on De Bruyne and Walker for Nunes and Akanji.
Everton's resistance eventually broke in the 71st minute when Everton's failure to clear their lines saw Haaland volley from close range to bag his first goal of the year.
Haaland made the victory safe for the European champions with six minutes left on the clock, as the Norwegian shrugged off a challenge before calmly slotting into the far corner.
In doing so, Haaland has scored 51 goal in 50 starts in the Premier League, which is more than any other player in the league's history, according to Opta Joe.
