Percy Tau was a second-half substitute as Brighton and Hove Albion claimed a crucial 1-0 win away to Leeds United on Saturday.
Despite his promising showing against Manchester City, Tau had to settle for a spot on the Brighton bench as Neil Maupay was restored to the line-up.
The decision to start Maupay paid dividends in the 18th minute when the Frenchman opening the scoring with a close-range finish after combining with Mac Allister in the box.
The visitors nearly bagged a second goal in the 23rd minute when Leandro Trrosard's cross deflected off Luke Ayling and crashed against the crossbar with Kiko Casilla well beaten.
Leeds, meanwhile, did not look like their usuals selves in the opening 45 minutes as they barely threatened the Brighton goal.
However, Marcelo Bielsa's men came out guns blazing in the second half, as Liam Cooper and Tyler Roberts squandered chances in the opening 20 minutes.
With both coaches looking to their benches, Tau was eventually introduced for Trossard in the for the final 15 minutes of the second half.
In the end, Brighton were able to see off a late surge from the home side to secure three points that sends the side up to 16th spot.
