Premier League Report: Fulham v Liverpool 06 August 2022

Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez were on target to help Liverpool rescue a 2-2 draw at newly-promoted Fulham on Saturday afternoon.

Result: Fulham 2-2 Liverpool

Date: 06 August 2022

Venue: Craven Cottage

Jurgen Klopp opted to start Roberto Firmino ahead of off-season signing Darwin Nunez, while the hosts handed a debut to former Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira.

Fulham looked lively in the early stages of the first half, especially down the left flank but they weren't able to carve out any serious openings.

The hosts did manage to carve out a good chance from a dead-ball situation when Pereira's free-kick found its way to Palhinha, who saw his volley deflected inches wide by Joel Matip.

Fulham got their reward in the 32nd minute with Aleksandra Mitrovic rose above Trent-Alexander Arnold to head home a cross from Kenny Tete at the far post.

Liverpool nearly found themselves level seven minutes later when Luis Diaz carved out some space before rattling the frame of the goal.

Klopp was forced into a change four minutes into the second half as Thiago Alcantara picked up a knock and was replaced by Harvey Elliot while Nunez came on for Firmino.

The Reds nearly further behind just before the hour mark when Neeskens Kebano unleashed a strike from the edge of the box that crashed against the upright.

Klopp's men got their reward in the 63rd minute as Mohamed Salah broke free down the right to pick out Nunez, who flicked the ball beyond Marek Rodak.

The pendulum swung once again as Fulham were awarded a penalty on 70 minutes for Van Dijk's foul on Mitrovic, who stepped up and converted the spot-kick.

However, Salah got the Reds back on level terms with eight minutes left on the clock after being set up by strike partner Nunez.

The visitors nearly completed the turnaround in second-half stoppage time, but Jordan Henderson's first-time strike crashed against the crossbar as the spoils were shared.
