Venue: Goodison Park

United coach Erik ten Hag handed a first league start to 18-year-old Kobbie Mainoo in midfield, while Antony Martial came in for Rasmus Hojlund, who misses out through injury.

The Red Devils got off to the perfect start when Alejandro Garnacho opened the scoring with a sublime bicycle kick from Diogo Dalot's cross for his first league goal of the season.

The away side dominated possession after taking the early lead, as Everton barely offered anything going forward, much to displeasure of the crowd at Goodison Park.

The Toffees, meanwhile, had to wait until the 30th minute for their first real opening when Dominic Calvert-Lewin forced Andre Onana into a superb save, before Mainoo got back in time to make a clearance on the goal-line.

Sean Dyche's men did end the half the stronger of the two sides, but they were unable to draw themselves level after some poor decision-making in the final third.

United got off to the best possible start as they were awarded a penalty after Ashley Young's foul on Anthony Martial following a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) review. Marcus Rashford stepped up and calmly dispatched the spot-kick for his second league goal.

With Everton pushing for a way back into the clash, the Red Devils bagged the third goal with 15 minutes left on the clock as Bruno Fernandes turned provider to pick out Martial, who calmly dinked the ball over Jordan Pickford.

The Toffees did have a couple efforts at goal of their own in the closing stages, with Vitaliy Mykolenko going closest by hitting the crossbar with a strike from distance.

Nevertheless, the three goals were enough to get the job done for the Red Devils, who sit four points adrift of the top four in sixth spot.
