The former Bianconeri star joined United's academy side from Le Havre in 2009, but was limited to only seven appearances for the first-team in his three-year stint with the Premier League outfit, before joining Juventus in 2012.

Pogba reportedly parted ways from the Red Devils after having grown increasingly frustrated at the lack of game-time presented to him.

Despite his alleged acrimonious exit from the club, the 26-year-old admitted that he was taken back by Ferguson's interest in United's youth outfits.

"When I was in the academy he used to come and watch some games. He was really into youth players. He made us train with the first team and stuff like that so I had a very, very good impression [of him]."

When asked about his initial impressions of United itself, Pogba replied: "Everything was big.

"In France the first team is somewhere else so you're not sharing with the first team.

"The day that I came I sat down and I saw the boss, Ferguson, coming and I saw the players sitting just next to us. It was a very good experience and you just want to play with them."

The 2013 Golden Boy winner also made mention of the two clubs that showed keen interest in acquiring his services prior to him joining United as a teenager.

"What I've heard is that Arsenal and Lyon (were interested in me)," Pogba said.

"I was thinking about singing for Lyon because I knew they had a really good academy as well. I was young and living in France and I had some little doubts. I felt Manchester was the right decision."

Since joining the 20-time EPL champions in a then world-record transfer from Juventus in a deal believed to be worth €105 million (R1.75 billion), Pogba has made 142 appearances, scoring 31 goals and registering 29 assists.
