Many City players were infuriated this past weekend when match official Simon Hooper failed to play advantage after initially allowing play to continue following a tackle on Haaland in their Premier League draw with the Lilywhites.
The Norwegian quickly got up as the referee signalled advantage and picked out a brilliant pass for Jack Grealish, who was through on goal. Hooper, however, then pulled the play back in what was seen as a controversial call.
With the score at 3-3, Haaland and some of his teammates then surrounded the match official to protest his decision, before the ex-Borussia Dortmund got into a scuffle with Giovani Lo Celso after the final whistle.
The 23-year-old then took to social media to further vent his frustrations, with Pep Guardiola acknowledging in a post-match interview that Haaland was disappointed by the incident.
As a result of the forward and his colleagues' actions, the FA has charged the treble champions for failing to "ensure their players do not behave in a way which is improper".
"Manchester City have been charged with a breach of FA rule E20.1 after their players surrounded the match official during the Premier League fixture against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, 3 December 2023," the governing body said in a statement, according to First Post.
"It's alleged that, during the 94th minute of the fixture, the club failed to ensure their players do not behave in a way which is improper.
"Manchester City have until Thursday, 7 December, to respond to the charge."
