Netherlands manager Danny Blind believes Louis van Gaal did not deserve to be fired by Manchester United.
Van Gaal, who oversaw an FA Cup triumph for the Red Devils at Wembley on Saturday, was relieved of his duties after failing to secure UEFA Champions League football for the club.
Blind, who is the father of United defender Daley Blind and a former national team assistant to, as well as a close friend of, Van Gaal, believes his fellow countryman has got a raw deal.
"I'm closer to the situation than many other people," Blind said, as quoted by the Daily Mirror.
"I can tell you that his departure came as a surprise. I feel for him. He doesn't deserve this. He's a great coach.
"We all know that, as a manager, you will face the sack at some stage in your career. It happens to every manager.
"In this case, I find it very disappointing. I know in which way this sacking was done, and it's not the way it should go."

It is not clear what the future holds for Van Gaal, but there have been rumours that he may consider a director of football position at former club Ajax Amsterdam or with the Netherlands national team.
