The last Liverpool player to don the No. 6 shirt was Dejan Lovren. The 31-year-old, who left the Merseysiders to join Zenit St. Petersburg in this window, made 185 appearances for the Reds, lifting three trophies in the process.

The Croatian wore the iconic number since 2014, and before Lovren, Luis Alberto and Fabio Aurelio owned it without making a huge impact at Anfield.

Another player who carried the iconic shirt number and left his mark on the club was John Arne Riise. The Norwegian, who was known for his powerful left foot, lifted seven trophies during his time at Anfield.

Riise made 348 appearances for Liverpool, scoring 31 goals and assisting another 23 strikes while featuring as a left-back for most of his time at Anfield.

Arguably the greatest Liverpool player to wear the No. 6 shirt was Alan Hansen, who wore the number between the 1977/78 and 1989/90 seasons.
