After not completing any signings during the previous transfer window, the Reds are seemingly being proactive in their recruitment for the next offseason.
Despite the many attacking talents already at their disposal, it appears that new Liverpool boss Arne Slot wants to further reinforce his forward line.
The player the Dutchman views as the next striker to lead his attacking trident is Brazil international Joao Pedro. The current Brighton Hove Albion forward has been on the Merseysiders' radar since he arrived on English shores from Fluminense.
He joined Watford from the Brazilian giants in 2020 before completing a move to the Seagulls at the beginning of last season.
The six-time European champions appreciate his eye for goal, with Joao Pedro scoring four goals and providing three assists in the nine Premier League matches he has played this season. Additionally, he is noted for his ability to dovetail with fellow attackers in the build-up of attacks.
According to Brazilian publication UOL, Liverpool want to commence negotiations with Brighton over a transfer for Joao Pedro as soon as January. This is because the coastal side are said to be notoriously tough negotiators. Another reason for Liverpool's urgency is the belief that Manchester United are also keen on luring the 23-year-old.

The forward was being tracked by the Red Devils when Erik ten Hag was still in charge, with the club appreciating his qualities. However, it remains to be seen whether Ruben Amorim is equally eager to bring him to Old Trafford.
