Former AC Milan and Real Madrid star Kaka sent a message to his "rival" Steven Gerrard, who announced his retirement from football this week.
The Liverpool legend retired from the beautiful game on Thursday, and many of his former teammates, opponents and friends took the opportunity to reflect on the incredible career he had.
Gerrard played a huge role in what is still seen as one of the greatest ever comebacks in world football, when Liverpool came from three goals down to defeat AC Milan in the 2005 UEFA Champions League final.
The captain scored the Reds' first goal of the comeback against an AC Milan side that featured the likes of Paolo Maldini, Andriy Shevchenko and Kaka.
Kaka, who later joined Los Blancos, sent a message to Gerrard via Instagram, wishing him a happy retirement.
The caption of the Brazilians' post reads: "We were rivals for a long time and we lived unforgettable finals... Steven Gerrard congratulations on your incredible career. Football is thankful to you. Happy retirement champion!"
