Reports suggest that Jesse Lingard could have a new club lined up after his Manchester United exit was confirmed.
The attacking midfielder found game time hard to come by at Old Trafford during the 2021/22 season – he started just 5% of United's league matches last season – and with his contract expiring at the end of this month, it was confirmed he would be leaving his boyhood club.
According to Sky Sports, Lingard will now look to take his talents to the country's capital, with West Ham United reportedly keen on the player.
It is claimed the London-based club has already offered a contract to the player's representatives, and are hopeful of a positive resolution in the coming days.
The lifelong United player had a brief loan stint with the Hammers in the second half of the 2020/21 season, during which he enjoyed arguably some of the best form his career.
Under David Moyes, Lingard impressed many as he found the back of net nine times and assisted a further five strikes in his 16-game stint with the east Londoners.
His performances for West Ham even earned him a recall to the England national team set-up prior to the 2020 UEFA European Championship.
Should he decide to head back to the London Stadium, Lingard will be hoping he can replicate that same form as they look to push for a European place once again next season.
