Following his brace against West Ham on Sunday evening, Erling Haaland equalled a Manchester City Premier League record on his debut for the reigning champions.
Haaland got off to a flying start in England's top division as the Norwegian striker was able to find the back of the net twice against West Ham United either side of half-time.
Last weekend, the 22-year-old was the subject of much scrutiny following his underwhelming performance against Liverpool in the FA Community Shield in which Pep Guardiola's men were defeated 3-1. Towards the end of the match, Haaland missed a glaring opportunity to open his account in blue, but his effort was thwarted by the crossbar.
However, the Leeds-born striker was able to exercise those demons when he set foot onto the pitch at the London Stadium for his first Premier League appearance. First, the forward was able to get in behind the West Ham defence before being brought down in the box by goalkeeper Alphonse Areola.
Haaland comfortably scored the subsequent penalty to score his first goal for the Citizens before he doubled his tally in the 65th minute with a clean finish after an excellent pass from Kevin De Bruyne.
His opening day brace means that Haaland has become only the second City player to have scored two goals on his Premier League debut. The first player to accomplish this feat was Sergio Aguero against Swansea in 2011. The Argentine came off the bench before scoring twice against the Wales-based side.
