English Premier League
Result: Chelsea 2-2 Tottenham Hotspur
Date: 02 May 2016
Venue: Stamford Bridge
Leicester City were crowned English Premier League champions, after Tottenham Hotspur failed to beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
The opening exchanges were played at a high tempo, although neither side could carve out any clear-cut openings in the opening 20 minutes.
The Blues had the first real opening of the game in the 26th minute, as Diego Costa teed up Cesc Fabregas, who placed his effort inches wide of the upright.
However, Spurs eventually broke the deadlock in the 34th minute, as Harry Kane collected a pass from Lamela, before rounding Asmir Begovic to slot into an empty net.
Spurs then doubled their lead just before the break when Christian Eriksen threaded a fine pass for Son, who calmly slotted into the bottom corner from close range.
The Blues reduced the deficit 10 minutes into the second half, as Spurs failed to deal with Fabregas' corner, which allowed Gary Cahill to volley home from six-yards out, 2-1.
Chelsea continued to push for an equaliser, but it was Spurs who nearly extended their lead in the 75th minute when Ryan Mason's low strike forced Begovic into a fine save.
The Blues then leveled matters in the 82nd minute, as Eden Hazard combined with Costa, before firing a fine effort into the top corner from the edge of the box.
Spurs failed to restore their lead in the closing stages of the game and were forced to settle for a point, which handed the Foxes their maiden Premier League title.
