Arsenal missed the chance to go top of the Premier League after they drew 1-1 with North London rivals, Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium. Spurs nearly broke the deadlock after 21 minutes, but Harry Kane's close ranger header sailed inches wide of the upright. The Gunners had to wait until 30 minutes for their first effort on target when Alexis Sanchez teed up Alexi Iwobi in the box. However, the Nigerian could only fire straight at Hugo Lloris. The home side went agonisingly close after 39 minutes when Theo Walcott rattled the woodwork with a stinging effort from 25-yards out. Arsenal eventually broke the deadlock three minutes before the break when Spurs defender Kevin Wimmer headed Mesut Ozil's free-kick into is own net. Spurs were awarded a penalty five minutes into the second half when Moussa Dembele was brought down by Laurent Koscielny. Harry Kane stepped up and converted from 12-yards out, 1-1. Arense Wenger opted for an attacking change after 64 minutes as Aaron Ramsey replaced Francis Coquelin. Spurs responded with a change of their own 10 minutes later, as Vincent Janssen replaced Kane as the visitors pushed for a winner. Both sides pushed for a winner in the closing stages, but were unable find the all important second goal.
