The Spanish midfielder, who emerged from Barcelona's youth academy, joined Chelsea in the last summer transfer window, has claimed that the Blues' philosophy is the same as that of his former club.
"I'd say that Barca have a style that he (Jose Mourinho) has already experienced and understands perfectly," he explained to Goal.
"We play a very similar game, we want to be the team that takes the initiative, have possession and look to score. We may have a different system, but the philosophy is similar."
Fabregas went on to compliment his Portuguese manager, who was in charge of Real Madrid when Fabregas returned to Barcelona in 2012, after his spell at Arsenal.
"Mourinho adapts to the players he has, what makes him so great as a coach is that he adapts to any situation and his teams can play in many different ways. It's a very intelligent way of managing," he concluded.
Fabregas has made 26 appearances for Chelsea this season, scoring four goals and making 17 assists in the process.
