Going into the 2023/24 campaign, a large number of players moved on from the club through the expiration of their contracts and permanent transfers.
While the Todd Boehly-led Clearlake Capital spent €467 million (R9.5 billion) on arrivals to try improve the club's fortunes, things have not gone to plan for the Blues.
Chelsea are in the bottom half of the Premier League tab in 11th place and are in serious danger of not qualifying for any European competition next season. Not only could this prevent them from landing transfer targets, but it could also put a strain on club finances.
Left-back Lewis Hall looks on his way out of the club as Newcastle United appear intent on triggering the buy option they have in their loan. He is one of 15 players who the club are looking to sell, according to Football London.
As a result of Hall being a Cobham alumni, Chelsea expect to generate pure profit from his sale. The same is true for Conor Gallagher, Trevoh Chalobah and Armando Broja, who could be on their way out.
There are even signings which were completed under the Boehly administration who could depart, such as Noni Madueke, Marc Cucurella, Raheem Sterling, Carney Chukwuemeka and David Datro Fofana.
