Chile international Alexis Sanchez has become the latest player to be handed the famous No. 7 jersey at Manchester United, following in the footsteps of the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and David Beckham.
Sanchez's Whopping Man Utd Package Revealed?
The former Arsenal forward completed his move to Old Trafford on Monday evening, and could make his first appearance for the club in United's FA Cup fourth round tie against Yeovil Town on Friday night.
At his unveiling, the 29-year-old revealed how important the number is for him, and how proud he is to follow in the footsteps of those who wore it before him.
"When they told me that Cristiano, Eric Cantona, David Beckham had all worn it, just thinking about that number seven sets you off dreaming in your head with ideas about lifting the Champions League trophy and winning the Premier League title," Sanchez told United's official website.
"So yes, I'm fulfilling a dream and I hope to give my very best and win many trophies at this club."
Former Northern Ireland international George Best was arguably the man responsible for making the No. 7 jersey famous at the club. In the 1960s, he was seen as one of the best players of his generation, but sadly got caught up in a lot of negative off-field activities.
