Panagiotis Retsos was born in Johannesburg to Greek parents, but moved to Greece at a young age. He opted to represent the European nation at international level and became the priciest Mzansi-born player ever when he joined Bayer Leverkusen from Olympiacos for a fee €17.5 million (R354 million) in August 2017.
However, his stint with the Bundesliga side has been marred by injuries, and he was loaned out to Sheffield United in January. The 21-year-old has now confirmed that he is keen to extend his stay in the English top flight.
"I would like to continue in England and Sheffield because he (Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder) believes in me very much," Retsos told Kicker.
"He has a plan for me, and it is important to practise and get even better."

Retsos' contract with Bayer Leverkusen only expires in June 2022, but the German club's sporting director Rudi Voller believes Retsos needs more minutes.
"Panos needs a club where he simply plays, this is important for his career," he said.
So far, Retsos has played only 14 minutes for Sheffield United, who have been the big surprise package of the Premier League this season.

The promoted side is currently in seventh place, ahead the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal and within reach of a potential top-four finish and UEFA Champions League qualification.
