Matthäus is currently in South Africa as part of the Bundesliga Experience in Mzansi, and made the trip out to Chiefs' Village in order to hand over a signed Bayern Munich shirt, but left with a special jersey of his own after being given a gift by Amakhosi owner, Kaizer Motaung.

The club said on their official Twitter account, "A captain of Captains, FIFA World Cup Winner and Legend of the Beautiful Game, Lothar Matthäus visited us today, it was a real honour to host such a Legend…

"From one Legend to another Legend, our Chairman welcomed Lothar Matthäus to the KC Village, a World Football Legend he described as having won almost all major trophies."

The German legend was handed Chiefs' 50th-anniversary jersey with the number 10 jersey that he wore for club and country after wishing the club a happy birthday.

Matthaus, who currently works as a Bundesliga ambassador, is promoting the Bundesliga Experience in Johannesburg. You can visit Balfour Mall on Saturday afternoon for a fest with family activities, live DJs, a legend's game including Sibusiso Zuma and Delron Buckley, among others, and the screening of Borussia Monchengladbach vs Borussia Dortmund, which could be a decider in the German title race!
