Borussia Dortmund's young star Jude Bellingham has been linked with a move to Manchester United, but his response to a fan asking if he will join the Red Devils may have put those rumours to rest.
United and their interim coach Ralf Rangnick are massive admirers of the teenager and, according to the Daily Star, the England international is one of the team's top targets for the next transfer window.
However, the starlet's response to a question about a potential move to Old Trafford may cause the club to look in an alternative direction.
The 18-year-old recently posed for a picture with a fan, who asked if he would be playing in the red half of Manchester any time soon.
Realising that it could a set-up, Bellingham made a quick dash while laughing, before appearing to mumble: "Don't be silly."
Most might take the comment as tongue-in-cheek, considering the club could have the ability to persuade the player to make a big-money move to the Theatre of Dreams at the end of the season.
Rangnick, meanwhile, has previously admitted that he scouted the player furing his time managing RB Leipzig.
"He's an absolute top player; one of the best," he told The Athletic in 2020.
"I have rarely seen a 17-year-old playing at such a level. We scouted him for 18 months at RB. He's simply extraordinary."
Having signed for the Black and Yellows for £25 million (R516 million) from Birmingham City in 2020, the young star is now said to be valued at about £100 million (R2 billion).
Bellingham has become a key figure for the Bundesliga side, amassing four goals and assisting a further 10 strikes so far this season.
