Flick believes the Polish striker is the player who "truly deserves" the award, especially as he seemed to be the clear favourite for the Ballon d'Or before France Football decided not to hand that accolade out this year.
Lewandowski has been nominated for the individual prize alongside Juventus' Ronaldo and FC Barcelona's Messi, and recently celebrated scoring his 250th Bundesliga goal, becoming only the third player in the league's history to do so.
