Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick has confirmed the name of a high-profile player who is set to leave the 2019/20 UEFA Champions League winners.
The German tactician famously guided the Bavarians to their second treble last month, but will now be defending those titles without Thiago Alcantara.
The Spaniard has agreed to join Liverpool, as Flick confirmed in a press conference on Thursday.
"Thiago is an exceptional player who spent seven hugely successful years here," he said, as quoted by the club's social media accounts.
"He's a wonderful person and an outstanding professional. It was very emotional today when he said goodbye to us all.
"I can only congratulate Liverpool as they got a great player and especially a great person."
Liverpool reportedly made a breakthrough in negotiations with Bayern on Thursday, agreeing a £27 million (R572 million) fee, as first reported by The Athletic.
Thiago is believed to have agreed a four-year deal with the Reds, one that will see him earn weekly wages of £200 000 (R4.2 million) at Anfield.
He is now set to travel to Liverpool to complete a medical and finalise his transfer to the Premier League champions.
