Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski leads the race for the Torjagerkanone, or Golden Boot, after scoring 19 league goals for the Bavarians in the first half of the season. The Polish hitman is expected to continue to be at his free-scoring best in 2020 as he looks to claim the award a fifth time and guide his club back to the summit of the Bundesliga.

Lewandowski's closest competitor is RB Leipzig star Timo Werner. The 23-year-old Germany international, whose form has seen him being linked with a host of Europe's top clubs, has scored 18 goals in just 17 appearances for the current league leaders, and looks set to continue his hot form this year.

Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho has emerged as one of the Bundesliga's most exciting players this season. The England international has been at his creative best, registering nine assists during the first half of the campaign, and will be the key man in BVB's push for a first league title since 2012.

Elsewhere, Bayer Leverkusen's Kai Havertz is another player to keep an eye on. The 20-year-old starlet has broken records at will since making his senior debut in 2016, and has already made more than 100 Bundesliga appearance – the youngest player ever to do so. The Germany star has struggled to match his form from last season but expect him to kick on in 2020.

Marcus Thuram, son of former France international Lilian Thuram, has been one of the breakout stars in Germany's top flight this season. The 22-year-old joined Borussia Monchengladbach from Guingamp at the start of the campaign, and his 11 goal contributions (six goals and five assists) have helped his team challenge for the title.
