Bundesliga Wrap: Eintracht Frankfurt Humble High-Flying Freiburg

High-flying Freiburg were brought back down to earth after falling to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday afternoon.

Freiburg were looking to bounce back after the defeat to Bayern Munich before the international break, while Frankfurt were aming for a second successive win.

Frankfurt got the start they wanted after Jesper Lindstrom opened the scoring with his first league goal in the 34th minute.

Filip Kostic got the second goal for the visitors a few minutes before the interval, which proved to be enough to secure maximum points on the day.

Mainz and Cologne could not be separated after playing to a 1-1 draw at Mewa Arena.

Jonathan Burkardt put the home side ahead in the 41st minute with his sixth goal in 12 matches.

However, Cologne were back on level terms two minutes after the halftime break through Salih Ozcan.

The point sees Mainz move up to eighth spot while Cologne remain unchanged in 12th position.
