Bundesliga Wrap: Bayern Bounce Back With Five Goals

Union Berlin 2-5 Bayern Munich

Just days after conceding five in the DFB Pokal, Bayern Munich bounced back by scoring five of their own in the Bundesliga against Union Berlin on Saturday afternoon.

The Bavarians led 3-1 at the break, with a brace from Robert Lewandowski and a strike by Leroy Sane in addition to Niko GieBelmann's finish at the other end.

Kingsley Coman added to Bayern's tally after halftime in-between Julian Ryerson's finish for the host before Thomas Muller put in the final punch, as the Bavarians remained at the summit.

Borussia Dortmund 2-0 FC Koln

Goals in each half were enough to help Borussia Dortmund cement second spot with a 2-0 win over FC Koln at home.

Thorgan Hazard netted the opener in the first half before youngster Steffen Tigges came off the bench to net his first goal for the club.

Bayer Leverkusen 0-2 Vfl Wolfsburg

Bayer Leverkusen lost further ground with the front-runners after going down 2-0 at home to a ten-man Vfl Wolfsburg.

Lukas Nmecha scored the opener two minutes in the second half following a goalless opening 45 minute spell and Maximilian Arnold made it two soon thereafter.

Late drama saw Wolfsburg end the match with ten players as Maxence Lacroix got his marching orders, while Lucas Alario missed a penalty-kick for the host.

SC Freiburg 3-1 Furth Greuther

SC Freiburg bagged back-to-back league wins on their own patch in the form of a 3-1 triumph over Furth Greuther.

An own-goal from Simon Asta helped the host to the breakthrough and left Nicolas Hofler to make it two for a comfortable lead at the interval.

Furth hinted a comeback through Jamie Leweling in the closing stages, but Vicenzo Grifo's penalty-kick ruled out any hopes of a turnaround.

Arminia Bielefeld 1-2 Mainz

Arminia Bielefeld remained without a win along with Furth Greuther in the bottom-two slots following a 2-1 loss to Mainz 05 at the Bielefelder Alm.

Korean Lee Jae-sung grabbed the front-foot before Arminia banked on Jacob Laursen to level matters, however Jonathan Burkardt put the visitors in control again with the ultimate winner.
