Hans Flick enjoyed a wonderful first season as Bayern head coach after leading the side to their second treble last campaign.
Flick will now look to guide the Bavarians to a ninth straight league title and that starts with a clash against a Schalke outfit who will be looking to improve on a 12th place finish.
After winning the treble, Bayern have also strengthened their attack with the signing of Leroy Sane from Manchester City although Thiago Alcantara has left the club to join Liverpool.
Bayern boast an impressive record against Schalke heading into tonight's encounter, having won the last eight encounters in all competitions.
