Bayern Munich's winning start to Bundesliga season came to a grinding halt after suffering a heavy 4-1 loss to Hoffenheim on Sunday afternoon.
Bayern made four changes from their UEFA Super Cup win over Sevilla, as Robert Lewandowski, Leon Goretzka, Niklas Sule and Lucas Hernandez were all rested on the bench.
The Bavarians were all over Hoffenheim in the early stages but the hosts took a shock lead in the 16th minute after Ermin Bicakcic flicked on a corner beyond the reach of goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.
Monas Dabbur doubled the lead for Hoffenheim in the 24th minute with a cheeky lob over Neuer after pouncing on an error by Benjamin Pavard at the back.
Joshua Kimmich pulled a goal back for the visitors with nine minutes left of the first stanza with a curling strike from just outside the box that came off the underside of the crossbar on its way to the back of the net.
Andrej Kramaric came close to restoring a two-goal cushion for Sebastian Hoeness' charges on the stroke of half-time after he twisted and turned to unleash a powerful strike that was parried into the crossbar by Neuer.
The game was opening up in the early stages of the second stanza and Joshua Zirkzee was unlucky not to level matters for Bayern on the hour-mark with a strike inside the box that rattled the crossbar.
Kramaric eventually made it 3-1 for Hoffenheim in the last 13 minutes after controlling a cheeky chip by Ihlas Bebou inside the box and smashed home a strike past Neuer.
Things got worse for Bayern as Neuer conceded a penalty in the last minute by bringing down Bebou inside the box and Kramaric made it 4-1 for Hoffenheim and grabbed his brace with an unstoppable penalty to maintain their perfect start.
