Bundesliga Report: Greuther Fürth v Bayern Munich 24 September 2021

Bayern Munich, who were reduced to ten men, cemented top spot in the Bundesliga with a 3-1 victory over Greuther Furth on Friday evening.

Result: Greuther Fürth 1-3 Bayern Munich

Date: 24 September 2021

Venue: Sportpark Ronhof Thomas Sommer

Bayern made just two changes for the encounter as Dayot Upamecano and Benjamin Pavard were recalled, with Serge Gnabry and Josip Stanisic dropped to the bench.

Muller got proceedings underway in the 12th minute as Alphonso Davies' cross deflected into the path of the Germany international, who fired home from 10 yards out.

The lead was doubled on 31 minutes when a neat passing move ended with Leroy Sane laying the ball off to Joshua Kimmich, who sent first-time effort past Sascha Burchert from 25 yards out.

While the hosts struggled to carve out chances of their own in the first half, the Bavarians nearly added a third goal four minutes before the break when Robert Lewandowski's effort struck the crossbar.

Bayern suffered a blow start of the second half as Pavard was shown straight red card after bringing down Jeremy Dudziak who was through on goal.

Despite the numerical disadvantage, Bayern got a third goal in the 68th minute when Furth's Sebastian Griesbeck deflected Kimmich's free-kick into the back of his own net.

The third goal seemingly ended Furth's hope a comeback, but the hosts did bag a late consolation with three minutes left of the clock through Cedric Itten.
