Borussia Dortmund got their Bundesliga campaign off to a flying start after thrashing Borussia Monchengladbach 3-0 on Saturday evening.
Dortmund coach Lucien Favre continued with his youthful and dangerous front trio of Jadon Sancho, Erling Haaland and Giovanni Reyna.
Haaland came close to breaking the deadlock for the hosts in the 21st minute with a header inside the box but Gladbach shot-stopper Yann Sommer made a great save.
Reyna got the breakthrough for Lucien Favre's charges with ten minutes remaining of the first stanza after showing composure inside the box to slot into the bottom corner against the run of play.
BVB came close to heading into the break with a two-goal lead after Sancho leaped around the penalty spot and powered a header inches over the crossbar.
Dortmund were on the front foot coming from the break and Haaland eventually doubled their lead nine minutes inside the second stanza from the penalty spot after Reyna went down inside the box, with the Video Assistant Referee getting involved.
Monchengladbach thought they had won a penalty on the hour-mark for a foul by Mats Hummels inside the box after the referee pointed to spot but after checking with the VAR, the referee reversed his decision.
Haaland bagged the third goal in the last 13 minutes with a lovely finish over Sommer after he was sent clear on goal by Sancho to complete his brace, as Dortmund get off the perfect start to move third.
