Result: Bayern Munich 1-2 Hoffenheim

Date: 05 October 2019

Venue: Allianz Stadium

Bayern Munich suffered their first loss of the 2019/20 Bundesliga campaign after going down 2-1 to Hoffenheim at Allianz Arena on Saturday afternoon.   The Bavarians' thumping win over Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Champions League came with a casualty, as David Alaba got injured and tactically, Thiago Alcantara replaced him in the line-up against Hoffenheim as the only change to partner Corentin Tolisso in midfield, while Benjamin Pavard switched to left-back and Joshua Kimmich withdrawn to right-back.   Bayern had a slow start but they almost went ahead in the 24th minute after Serge Gnabry slotted home a cross from Kimmich inside the box but the goal was disallowed for offside in the build-up.   Hoffenheim were threatening on counter-attacks and they nearly broke the deadlock in the 33rd minute after Ihlas Bebou broke away on the left channel but his curling shot was saved by goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.   Niko Kovac's charges were increasing their intensity in the latter phase of the first stanza, coming close to finding the breakthrough but they were not clinical enough as the first stanza ended without goals.   The game was opening up in the early stages of the second stanza and Hoffenheim broke the deadlock nine minutes inside the second stanza thanks to Adamyan, who a struck a low shot past Neuer after the visitors forced Bayern into an error high up the pitch, 0-1.   Bayern rallied and found the equaliser in the 73rd minute courtesy of Robert Lewandowoski, who guided a shot in the centre of the six-yard box to the back of the net, following a pin-point cross from Thomas Muller, 1-1.   However, Adamyan restored the lead for Hoffeheim with 11 minutes remaining after firing another low shot from the edge of the box past the hand of Neuer against the run of play and got his brace in the process.   The Bavarians were surging forward in numbers, in the closing stages searching for the equaliser but they unable to carve out an opening  as Hoffenheim held for three points.
