Bayer Leverkusen kept their top four aspirations alive with a 4-1 thumping of Augsburg in the Bundesliga on Friday evening.
The home side got off to a positive start and broke the deadlock after 12 minutes thanks to a strike from Kevin Danso.
Leverkusen were not behind for too long as they drew level five minutes later, with Kevin Volland netting his 14th league goal of the campaign.
The visitors then had the ball in the back of the net for a second time when Lucas Alario slotted home after being teed up by Mitchell Wieser, however the strike was ruled out by the Video Assistant Referee.
The chances continued fall for the visitors, with Alario going closest by hitting the frame of the goal on the stroke of halftime.
The away side took the lead three minutes into the second half, with Kai Havertz turning home a cross from Volland.
Leverkusen grew stronger from then on and they managed to grab a third goal on the hour mark thanks to a close-range finish from defender Jonathan Tah.
Both coaches opted for a couple changes for the remaining 20 minutes with the away side comfortably leading.
Leverkusen rounded off the scoring in the 88th minute through Julian Brandt's close range finish after being teed up by Dominik Kohr.
