Real Madrid captain and Spain teammate Sergio Ramos has come up with a strange reason why FC Barcelona veteran Andres Iniesta has never won the Ballon d'Or.
France Football Apologises To Barca Legend Over Ballon d'Or Snub
The 33-year-old, who is widely expected to announce his departure from the Blaugrana at the end of the season, will most likely end his career without winning the prestigious Golden Ball, despite finishing in the top three in 2010 and 2012.
Talking after Real's 2-1 win against Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League, Ramos admitted that Iniesta had been unfortunate not to be awarded with the accolade and also suggested a certain bias in the voting process.
"If Andres was called Andresinho, he would have two Ballons d'Or," Ramos said, according to Marca.
Many believe the Catalan star deserved to have won the Ballon d'Or in 2010, instead of club teammate Lionel Messi, as he played a vital role for this country and even scored the winning goal in the 2010 FIFA World Cup final.
