'Jorginho Not Winning The Ballon d'Or Would Be Strange'

Chelsea star Jorginho not winning this year's Ballon d'Or would be strange, according to Italy manager Roberto Mancini.

Jorginho played a key role in Chelsea's UEFA Champions League success last season, as well as Italy's UEFA European Championship triumph in July.

The Italian midfielder has already been awarded the 2020/21 Champions League Player of the Season accolade, and Mancini feels he should win the big prize.

"Jorginho should, in my opinion, win the Ballon d'Or. He has won everything and deserves it a lot. It would seem strange to me otherwise."

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have dominated the award since 2008, although Luka Modric was able to break their streak in 2018 before Messi won his sixth Ballon d'Or a year later.

Jorginho would be the first Chelsea player to win the prestigious accolade, and the first Premier League player since Ronaldo in 2008 to do so.
