The Nigerian was on the voting panel that selected the 10 nominees for the 2017 World Goal of the Year award, and Masuluke's bicycle kick against Orlando Pirates was selected as one of the 10 finalists.

"My vote goes to the goalkeeper (Masuluke), because it's so rare to see something like that," Okocha told FIFA.

"Goals by goalkeepers are already very unusual, and last-minute bicycle kicks are too. I think it really was something very special."

Former Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo, who won the UEFA Champions League with the Blues in 2012, echoed the two-time BBC African Footballer of the Year's sentiment.

"I really liked the strike by the goalkeeper (Masuluke) – and the celebrations afterwards were pretty unique too," the Italian tactician said.

South African football fans and supporters from around the globe still have until Monday, 9 October, to vote for the Mzansi star before the 10-man shortlist will be cut down to three finalists.
