The International Federation of Professional Footballers (FIFPro) has announced the 55 nominees for the 2020 FIFA World XI, and four African stars made the list.
The World XI is a unique accolade as it is the only global award that is decided by the players only.
About 30 000 professional footballers have taken part in the nomination process in each of the previous editions.
Each of the players selected their personal World XI, with the most selected players per position making the 55-man shortlist, which was announced on Thursday.
"The voting process is different from what it has been in previous years," FIFPro stated on its website.
"Due to COVID-19 safety precautions, FIFPro and its player unions will not be visiting the players at their clubs to hand over the traditional paper voting ballots.
"Nonetheless, we are able to continue our annual tradition by using a digital voting platform. All professional footballers will receive a link from their player union to participate in this year's election.
"Officially, the vote began on Monday, 16 November, with players from Malaysia being the first to submit their votes digitally. The election ended on 9 December."
FIFPro announced 10 goalkeeper nominees, 15 defenders, 15 midfielder and 15 forwards, with the eventual team lining up in a 4-3-3 formation.
