Football's world governing body once again collaborated with the International Federation of Professional Footballers (FIFPro) to get around 25 000 professional players to vote for their peers.

Unsurprisingly Real Madrid dominate the team after lifting their third UEFA Champions League title in a row, having five representatives - namely Sergio Ramos, Raphael Varane, Marcelo and Luka Modric as well as the departed Cristiano Ronaldo - from their title-winning team in the World XI.

Varane also is one of three 2018 FIFA World Cup winners, the others being N'Golo Kante and Kylian Mbappe. The three World Cup winners are among five newcomers, with David De Gea and Eden Hazard also making their first appearance in the team, with Lionel Messi and Dani Alves completing the team.

This year's dream team once again lines up in a 4-3-3 formation and is based on performances throughout the 2017/18 season.

Salah, despite being named among the three shortlisted players for The Best Men's Player of the Year award, along with 2018 FIFA World Cup winner Antoine Griezmann and the world's most expensive player Neymar were all not included.
