The latest iteration of the Cairo Derby is now under threat as two Zamalek players, Mostafa Shalaby and Nabil Emad Dunga, and their director of football, Abdelwahid El-Sayed, are currently in police custody.
According to KingFut, after the five-time CAF Champions League winners successfully defeated Pyramids in the semi-finals of the Super Cup on the weekend, Nabil Emad, who was not part of the matchday squad because of an injury, tried to go on the pitch and an altercation ensued.
Shalaby is also believed to have got involved, but the scuffle ended quickly after others diffused the situation.
Emad, Shalaby and El-Sayed are still believed to be detained even after giving statements the Abu Dhabi Public Prosecution earlier this week.
The official spokesperson for Zamalek, Ahmed Salem, has confirmed that there is a possibility the team may pull out of the final against their eternal rivals as a consequence of the immense pressure of the situation.
"An urgent meeting is currently taking place between club president Hussein Labeeb and treasurer Hossam El Mandouh, who is also the head of the delegation, to discuss the possibility of withdrawing from the Egyptian Super Cup and returning to Cairo as soon as possible due to the unfavourable conditions and unbearable pressures faced by the team," Salem said via his official Facebook account.

"Both the club president and the head of the delegation have been at the police station since early morning due to the officials' decision to detain some players, and the administration's firm stance on not abandoning them."
