Percy Tau had a debut to remember for Al Ahly after bagging a brace in the Red Devils' 4-0 win over Ismaily in their Egyptian Premier League opener on Wednesday night.

Tau was thrown straight into the line-up after missing the CAF Champions League preliminary round ties while fellow new signing Luis Muqissone was also handed a start.

There was a familiar face on the Ismaily team sheet as former Orlando Pirates and Cape Town City striker Justin Shonga started in the attack while former Platinum Stars for Ben Shilongo was named on the bench.

The Red Devils got their early reward after being awarded a penalty in the 19th minute, with Ali Ma'aloul converting from 12-yards out to put his side ahead.

Three minutes later, Tau marked his league debut with a goal after eliminating two Ismaily defenders before firing past Ahmed Abdel-Moneim with a low strike.

It got better for Tau and the Red Devils in the 33rd minute as the South African international completed his brace after turning home a cross from Mohamed Afsha at the near post, with the Video Assistant Referee approving the strike.

The visitors looked to carry that dominance in the second half, as Tau had the ball in the back of the net for a third time but it was ruled out for an offside.

There would no hat-trick for Tau on his debut as his evening came to an end in the 72nd minute after being replaced by Ahmed Radwan while Hussein El Shahat replaced Miquissone.

There was a sour moment two minutes later as Mosimane's charges had to finish the game with 10 men after Aliou Dieng received his marching orders with a second yellow card.

Radwan rounded off the scoring for Al Ahly in the final three minutes as Mosimane's charges moved to the top of the standings.
