According to The Guardian, CAF has launched an internal investigation into allegations of serious misconduct by general secretary Veron Mosengo-Omba.
It is understood that the institution's president, Patrice Motsepe, called an emergency meeting on Tuesday with his executive committee to discuss claims made in a report by its head of governance, risk and compliance (GRC).
It is claimed the meeting was tense, and while the report is believed to have been submitted months ago, its findings were only revealed in the aforementioned congregation.
It is said that in the report, there is an allegation levelled against the Congolese chief that he impeded the GRC from fulfilling their duties.
There are also accusations that there is a "stressful, unethical and unprofessional environment within the CAF administration", as well as "repeated cases of inappropriate language" used when various departments are in communication with one another.
Mosengo-Omba recently took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to vent his frustration at the proceedings.
"My efforts to turn around and regularise this institution, which has been disrespected at times, are being sabotaged by an out-of-the-blue report containing grievances without documented proof," he wrote on the social media platform.
"The planned independent investigation will expose the falsity and origin of this report."
