During this international break, Vladimir Petkovic will take charge of the Desert Foxes for the first time.
As any new coach does when taking over a team, there have been some alterations to the squad.
The Swiss tactician has given opportunities to five relatively inexperienced international players in Mohamed Amine Madani, Anis Hadj Moussa, Rafik Guitane, Ahmed Kendouci and Monsef Bakrar.
They have been included at the expense of some of the nation's most experienced players in Riyad Mahrez, Islam Slimani, Sofiane Feghouli, Rais M'Bolhi and Youcef Belaili.
While Mahrez was not included because he requested not to be chosen, that was not the case for the rest of the aforementioned, and according to WinWin, that has not gone down well with the some of the contingent that helped Algeria win their second Africa Cup of Nations title in 2019.
The same report claims that Slimani, in particular, is furious about his exclusion, and that he went as far as calling Algerian Football Federation president Walid Sadi to voice his displeasure.

It is believed that Algeria's all-time top goalscorer is not so much angry about his omission from the north African giants' latest squad, but more with the way in which it was done, with it said that there was no communication from Petkovic about his non-selection.
