An Al Ahly director has confirmed that their talisman Percy Tau has been fined by the club for his conduct on the bench during the second leg of the CAF Champions League final.

During the decisive leg of the latest iteration of African football's premier club competition final, the South Africa international was the first player to be substituted by Marcel Koller in their 1-0 victory over Esperance de Tunis.
While everybody in the Red Devils' camp was jubilant after the final whistle was blown at the Cairo International Stadium, Tau was visibly upset after he was substituted off in the 67th minute.

It was rumoured that the 30-year-old had argued with club sporting director Khaled Bebo, but the Egyptian administrator has now revealed that the former Mamelodi Sundowns star was in fact involved in a spat with another member of Koller's technical staff.
Bebo also confirmed that the Witbank native has been punished by the club as a consequence of his actions on the bench.
"Percy Tau did not address me in the final match against Esperance of Tunisia. The player was angry and was talking to a member of the staff. A penalty was imposed on the player for not repeating the matter at all during the coming period once and for all, especially since there is a system within the club," the Ahly chief said, as per El Watan.

"All matters within Al Ahly Club are clear regarding the issue of the rules regarding this matter, and the focus is always on having a system of rewards and punishments, which is what has happened during the recent period."
