A former Al Ahly star has explained why the Egyptian giants have chosen Jose Riveiro as their next head coach.
The Spanish coach reportedly landed in Cairo earlier this week after ending his reign with Orlando Pirates on Tuesday evening.

Riveiro took charge of the Buccaneers in 2022 and was an unknown figure on the continent, but he has won five trophies in that period and also guided the club to a semi-final in the CAF Champions League this season.
Former Al Ahly and Egypt goalkeeper Ahmed Shobeir stated that Riveiro's age was a big part of Al Ahly making their decision.
"Al-Ahly chose José Rivero for his youth and because he is a project coach, and within hours there will be a meeting with Mahmoud El-Khatib," Shobier said, as per Ysscores.
"Regarding the former coach Marcel Koller, there are positive discussions to resolve the issue of the penalty clause, noting that he has two good offers from the UAE and Saudi Arabia."
