Tanzania's AFCON heroes, who helped the country qualify for their first Africa Cup of Nations in 39 years, will all be given a piece of land for their heroics, the country's president John Pombe Magufuli has confirmed.

The Taifa Stars will take part in only their second finals tournament after previously playing in the 1980 edition of Africa's biggest footballing showpiece.

Coach Emmanuel Amunike's men qualified courtesy of a 3-0 win over Uganda in their final Group L clash, finishing with eight points behind the Cranes, who had already secured their ticket to AFCON 2019 with 13 points ahead of the final round of matches.

To show his appreciation for his country's national team, president Magufuli has gifted the players with parcels of land in the administrative capital of the country.

"I am very happy for the honour you've brought to our nation," he told the players and members of the technical team at State House in Dar es Salaam, as quoted by MSN News.

"For the good work you have done to bring honour to Tanzania by qualifying for AFCON finals in Egypt, each player will get a parcel of land in Dodoma (the administrative capital).

"I believe our players can put up a better show in Cairo, and go one place better by winning the title."
