Chiefs & Bucs Stars Make Final Zimbabwe AFCON Squad

Zimbabwe have announced their final 23-man squad for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, which includes a number of players based in South Africa.

The Warriors used the recent COSAFA Cup for preparations and kept most of the squad that secured a third-place finish on Friday evening.

Kaizer Chiefs duo Khama Billiat and Teenage Hadebe as well as Orlando Pirates duo of Kudakwashe Mahachi have all made the final cut.

Zimbabwe finished off their preparations with a goalless draw away to Nigeria on Saturday evening and will now shift focus to the tournament.

The Zimbabweans were drawn in Group A alongside hosts Egypt, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Goalkeepers: George Chigova (Polokwane City), Elvis Chipezeze (Baroka), Edmore Sibanda (Witbank Spurs)

Defenders: Teenage Hadebe (Kaizer Chiefs), Divine Lunga (Golden Arrows), Ronald Pfumbidzai (Bloemfontein Celtic), Tendai Darikwa (Nottingham Forest), Jimmy Dzingai (Power Dynamos), Alec Mudimu (CEFN Druids),    Midfielders: Talent Chawapihwa (AmaZulu), Danny Phiri (Golden Arrows), Marshall Munetsi (Orlando Pirates), Marvelous Nakamba (Club Brugge), Tafadzwa Kutinyu (Azam), Ovidy Karuru (AmaZulu), Khama Billiat (Kaizer Chiefs), Kudakwashe Mahachi (Orlando Pirates), Thabani Kamusoko (Young Africans).   Strikers: Knowledge Musona (Anderlecht), Nyasha Mushekwi (Dalian Yifang), Tinotenda Kadewere (Le Havre), Knox Mutizwa (Golden Arrows), Evans Rusike (SuperSport United).
