A statue of Lionel Messi in Buenos Aires, Argentina, was vandalised on Monday – check it out here!
The statue, which was unveiled in 2016, is located on the Paseo de la Gloria along with homages to other Argentine sporting greats such as tennis star Gabriela Sabatini and basketball legend Manu Ginobili.
The figure was constructed to help convince the five-time Ballon d'Or winner to return to the national team during his brief retirement from international football.

Buenos Aires city government released a statement regarding the vandalism of the iconic statue.
"The statue of Lionel Messi fell victim to an act of vandalism that left the footballer's sculpture without its top half," a statement read.
"The City Government is now working on its repair."
Do you think the vandals were perhaps Cristiano Ronaldo supporters?
